The free-to-play iOS and Android game Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble has been cancelled before a full global release. Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Oh BiBi announced the decision on Friday, according to Polygon. Video Games Chronicle described the title as a "fast-paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter" that PlayStation published, developed by Oh BiBi with Insomniac as a partner. The game's original synopsis invited players to "Jump, dash, grind, collect bolts, and become the next Galactic Ranger," and reminded them that Captain Qwark is watching.
The official website for the game states that the final update rolls out on November 6, 2026, and the app leaves Apple's App Store and Google Play on November 21, 2026. Players who have already installed the game can keep playing until May 1, 2027, when the servers go offline permanently and the game stops loading.
In-app purchases have already been removed. The announcement says players can still earn rewards by playing and use earned or purchased currency for upgrades, cosmetics, characters, and other currencies up to the shutdown. The Qwark Pass seasons continue until May 1, 2027, and the Super Pass is now available at no cost, letting players earn all content during each season. Pre-registration rewards are available to all players who log into the November 7 update, and all player data will be deleted at the end of service on May 1, 2027. Players who want refunds for previous purchases must contact Apple's App Store or Google Play.
The game was announced in November 2025 and soft-launched that month in the Philippines and Indonesia. It later expanded to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Canada and the United Kingdom, with the UK release coming in August 2026. Video Games Chronicle noted that France also received a soft launch. Polygon reported that Sony announced plans for a global launch over the summer, but the company reversed course.
"We've made the difficult decision to cease development of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble," the statement on the game's site says. It adds thanks to the community "especially to those who have spent time playing, sharing feedback, and helping shape Ranger Rumble throughout its development."
The FAQ on the Ranger Rumble site says the cancellation does not affect other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services. Polygon notes that Ratchet & Clank was created by Insomniac Games in 2002, and the franchise's last console release was 2021's Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The studio has not announced a new Ratchet & Clank game, but files leaked during a 2023 hack suggest Insomniac was making a sequel to Rift Apart. No official plans have been announced since then.
Warby Parker will take orders for the display-free, Gemini-powered eyewear starting November 12, with pricing and the full collection revealed the same day.
