Apple quietly released iOS 27.1 last night, but only the iPhone Duo can install it, according to 9to5Mac. Every other iPhone sees iOS 27.0.1 as the latest available update, and those devices are set to jump to iOS 27.2 when it ships to all users next week.
The beta of iOS 27.2 has already shown what that broader update will include: Suggested Actions in Messages, a new Apple Music app icon and revised design, user profiles in Apple TV, an overhauled Up Next queue in Apple Podcasts, Dual Capture for FaceTime group calls, and support for more languages in Siri AI.
9to5Mac reports that Apple skipped a beta cycle for iOS 27.1 to keep iPhone Duo details hidden until its official launch, and that custom Duo-only designs and features made the separate release simpler to manage internally.
Baseus has gathered three accessories built for the iPhone Duo, as reported by How-To Geek. The PicoGo Air AM72 is a 5,000 mAh Qi2 magnetic power bank that is 7.9 mm thin, measures 81 x 85.3 mm, and uses a 12 N magnetic hold. It charges wirelessly at up to 15 W or over USB-C at up to 25 W, and recharges at up to 18 W. Baseus says the AM72 uses a raised platform and grooved rear cooling structure to increase the cooling area by 50 percent, with an AI adaptive cooling system that checks temperature 18,000 times per hour, and PowerSense NFC battery health checks in the Baseus app. From October 19 to November 18, the AM72 is $59.99 with promo code PICOGO72C, a 25 percent discount. The PicoGo Pro AH22 is a 100 W three-port USB-C charger with a 23 x 23 mm display, a foldable plug, and 100 to 240 V input; any single port can deliver up to 100 W, and all three ports used at once provide up to 95 W. The HoopRing case adds a 360-degree rotating magnetic stand that Baseus says works with the phone folded or unfolded.
On launch day, there were unreserved iPhone Duo units available for purchase at the Apple Store in Stratford, East London, according to Digital Camera World. The reporter arrived at 6:30 and found staff taking reservations for walk-in stock; both colors and all configurations could be reserved for collection later in the day, and none seemed out of stock at the time he chose his model. He was given an 11:30 pickup slot, though the report notes supply is finite and still constrained.

MacDailyNews reported Thursday that iOS 27.1 focuses on refinements specific to the iPhone Duo's dual-display hardware and will not appear on other iPhones. Apple's release notes say the update improves continuity between the two displays, cuts latency when an app spans both screens, and adds new gestures for split-view and slide-over multitasking. Battery management was also adjusted to better handle energy use when both screens are active at once. The update revises the always-on outer display mode so more third-party widgets and live activities can appear while the phone is closed without waking the inner screen. MacDailyNews said the release includes standard security patches and bug fixes, with the same security content already available for other iPhones on iOS 27.0.2. Apple said iOS 27.1 is rolling out now through Settings on compatible iPhone Duo devices, and support documentation says installation requires at least a 50 percent charge or a connection to power. The company gave no timeline for adapting the Duo-specific features to future iPhone models.

The outlet said the device ships with iOS 27.1 installed, but a new build of iOS 27.1 is available as a day-one update. Appleosophy quoted the release notes for that build as saying, "This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone". It said the new build does not add any additional security fixes. Appleosophy also said the final release of iOS 27.2 for other iPhones is expected next week or in early November.

Android Headlines reported that the iPhone Duo has gone on sale worldwide, though buyers face long waiting periods. The site also said the iOS 27.2 release candidate can be installed on the iPhone Duo, so when that version ships next week, all supported iPhones would move to the same release.
