OnePlus has confirmed that its phones and tablets will receive Android 17 as ColorOS 17, Oppo's interface that takes over from OxygenOS. The rollout is scheduled to start October 29, 2026, with the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4, then continue to the OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s on October 30. The company has committed to updating 24 existing devices, with the rest following by early 2027.
How the transition happened
OnePlus wound down its global business in July 2026 but stated that existing devices would keep receiving software support for their promised lifespans. At that time, OnePlus confirmed supported devices would move from OxygenOS to Oppo's ColorOS beginning with Android 17. The two interfaces had already become similar in recent years.
On August 6, 2026, ColorOS 17 closed beta recruitment began in China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. NokiaPowerUser reported that OnePlus 15 slots were live in India and OnePlus 15R slots globally, each limited to 300 users. The China program included the Find N6, Find X9 line, Find X9s Pro, Find X9 and Pad 5 Pro; test updates started August 11 for the Find X9 Pro series and August 13 for the rest. Because these were early Android 17 builds, NokiaPowerUser cautioned that testers could see bugs, battery drain and app incompatibility, and advised backing up data before installing.
According to Gizbot on August 25, the closed beta phase might last four or five weeks before an open beta, and ColorOS 17 was intended to unify Oppo, OnePlus and Realme software. The outlet also said OnePlus had indicated users might be able to go back to OxygenOS 16 if they disliked ColorOS 17.
ColorOS 17 debuted in China in September 2026, and Oppo introduced it globally in October. Oppo calls the design language Living Flow Design, which includes Luminous Effect, Fluid Motion and Flexible Feedback. Oppo states the Luminous Rendering Engine can reduce rendering workloads by as much as 30 percent and rendering RAM usage by up to 25 percent over ColorOS 16. The Laminar Flow Engine is said to improve app-launch stability by 55 percent and Gallery thumbnail loading by up to 50 percent.
Rollout schedule
OnePlus shared this schedule for ColorOS 17, which is based on Android 17[6]:
- October 29, 2026: OnePlus 15, Pad 4
- October 30, 2026: OnePlus 15R, 13, 13s

- December 2026: 12R, 12R Genshin Impact Edition, 11, Nord 5, Nord CE6 Lite, Nord CE5, Pad 2, Pad Go 2
- Q1 2027: Nord 4, N6, N6x, N6 Lite, Pad Lite
The OnePlus 16 will ship with ColorOS 17 out of the box in China.
What to know before updating
Because ColorOS 17 replaces OxygenOS, OnePlus users will notice ColorOS branding and an altered interface after installing it. Gizbot reported that OnePlus and Realme might retain certain brand-specific touches, like home screen icons and sections of the settings app. For beta or early builds, back up important data beforehand, since early ColorOS 17 releases may have software bugs, battery drain and app incompatibility, as NokiaPowerUser cautioned in August.
