Samsung One UI 9 rollout reaches Galaxy S25 and Z7 in Korea

The Android 17 update is now hitting 2025 flagships in South Korea after a stop-start launch; US rollout is partial, with T-Mobile S26 Ultra and unlocked beta users first.

Samsung's One UI 9 software, built on Android 17, is now spreading to more Galaxy devices after a staggered start. SamMobile's August 11 eligibility list includes Galaxy S, Z, A, XCover, F, M, and C phones, plus Tab S, Tab Active, and Tab A tablets, but the list is based on update policy and support clues rather than an official company announcement.

How the rollout unfolded

Samsung introduced One UI 9 as a beta for the Galaxy S26 series in May 2026. Tech Advisor reports the stable version debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 in July. The Galaxy S26 stable rollout began in South Korea on September 16. Samsung Thailand initially scheduled local S26 devices for September 21, but that date passed without an update. By September 22, Samsung Thailand revised the schedule to September 28, which was already the rollout date for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Nokiamob said industry analysts suspect Samsung paused global distribution to address bugs or performance issues.

Android Central reported that some T-Mobile Galaxy S26 Ultra owners in the US had received One UI 9. The update was around 4GB, included the September security patch, and carried build number S948USQU4BZID/S948UOYN4BZID/S948USQU4BZID. Unlocked models and phones on AT&T and Verizon had not yet received it.

Android Police wrote on September 26 that Samsung's official window for the Galaxy S26 line is 'within September,' and the Galaxy S25 series, S25 Edge, S25 FE, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 should arrive by the end of the month. The same report listed later-eligible devices, including Galaxy S24 and S23 series, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, many A series phones, Tab S11/S10/S9 tablets, Tab A11 and A9+, and XCover 7, XCover 7 Pro, and XCover 6 Pro. Galaxy S22 and S21 FE will not receive One UI 9 because they have used up four major Android updates.

9to5Google reported unlocked US Galaxy S26 users in the beta program were seeing the stable update, about 650MB for those users. Samsung's changelog listed features including My FanCam, Now nudge, enhanced quick panel customization, warranty and care menu, AI privacy alerts, and a redesigned Samsung Health app. SamMobile also spotted One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

On September 29, Tech Advisor reported the update had reached the Galaxy S25 series, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE in South Korea. Tipster Tarun Vats said the download is 3.9GB on the Galaxy S25 series. The US is expected to follow within a week based on the S26 pattern. Samsung originally pointed to an S23 series rollout 'by October,' but that was amended to 'later this year'.

Where things stand now

As of September 29, the rollout is active in South Korea for the Galaxy S25 and 2025 foldables, and partially underway in the US for T-Mobile Galaxy S26 Ultra and unlocked beta participants. The first international date for the S26 slipped from September 21 to September 28 in Thailand, and carrier availability in the US remains uneven. Samsung users can check Settings > Software update > Download and install. The update is large, so Wi-Fi, free space, and a charged phone are recommended.
