As of early October, Vivo's global foldable rollout is focused on the X Fold 6. The book-style phone debuted in China in June and has now reached international markets, where Vivo is pitching it against Apple's iPhone Duo with a larger battery, faster charging and a bigger main camera sensor, according to Beebom Gadgets.
How the launch unfolded
Gizmochina reported that the global X Fold 6 model V2559 had appeared on Geekbench. The listing showed a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip, 12GB of RAM, Android 17, and scores of 1,710 single-core and 5,977 multi-core. The same model number had already passed certifications in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
TelecomTalk reported that tipster Abhishek Yadav said on X that the phone would launch globally on October 1 and in India on October 6 at 12 PM, five days later. TelecomTalk said the tipster listed 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB variants in Prism Black and Nebula Teal, and that the Vivo V80 5G and S2 FE 5G were confirmed for the same India event.
Beebom Gadgets reported that the X Fold 6 had officially gone global. GadgetMatch followed with details of the global spec, including OriginOS 7 Fold, a 6,900mAh battery and a 200MP ZEISS camera.
My Mobile India reported the Austria pricing: €2,199 for the 12GB+512GB Horizon Blue model. Sales start on October 8 through the Vivo online store and partners Drei, MediaMarkt and A1. The October promotion adds a Vivo WATCH GT 2 without charge, along with an extended warranty, screen protection and three months of Google AI Pro. Beebom Gadgets noted that Vivo has not announced global pricing or market availability, and that details will be shared market by market.
Gizbot reported that tipster Abhishek Yadav tipped an India price of Rs 2,19,999 for the 12GB+512GB variant, with launch expected at the October 6 event, where the Vivo V80 and Vivo S2 FE are also expected. Vivo has not confirmed India pricing, specifications or launch date.
What Vivo is pushing: battery, cameras, foldable design
Battery life is one of Vivo's main arguments. The global X Fold 6 uses a 6,900mAh BlueVolt battery, slightly below the 7,000mAh China version, with 80W wired and 40W wireless charging. GadgetMatch credits 5th-gen silicon anode and semi-solid-state cell technology for fitting the large battery into a slim body that can operate at -20°C. Beebom Gadgets points out the battery is roughly 2,000mAh larger than the iPhone Duo's.
Cameras are the other headline. The rear array has a 200MP ZEISS main camera, a 50MP ZEISS ultrawide, and a 50MP ZEISS APO periscope telephoto with 3x zoom and up to 100x ZEISS HyperZoom. My Mobile India says the main camera uses a Samsung HPB sensor, the telephoto uses a Sony LYTIA 602 sensor, and a Vivo Imaging Chip V3+ handles processing. The phone also supports Vivo's second-generation 200mm telephoto extender, which Beebom Gadgets says is unique in the category.
Foldable hardware is meant to compete on size and durability. The inner display measures 8.02 inches and the cover display 6.51 inches, both with 1-120Hz LTPO panels and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. The Prism Black model is 4.4mm thick when unfolded and weighs 228g; Horizon Blue is 4.8mm and 235g. It carries IP58, IP59, IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance plus IP5X dust resistance, compared with IP68 on the iPhone Duo, according to Beebom Gadgets.
Software and silicon round out the pitch. The X Fold 6 pairs the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition with OriginOS 7 Fold software, which adds Multi-Task Workbench, AI Cross-App Drag, the Jovi AI agent and Desktop Mode. GadgetMatch describes up to four resizable windows and cross-device work through Vivo Office Kit.
